Idea Guide to GCSE - Foundation Tier (G - C)
The IDEA Guide to GCSE Mathematics has been undergoing trialling for two years in a variety of schools. The emphasis has been on trialling the material with bottom sets, although classes with students whose likely grades were E – C have also responded well to the material. The students had a wide range of abilities (from Level 2 at KS2) and the full spectrum of levels of motivation.

The teachers were very pleased with how well the material worked with their students and at the improvement in motivation. The bottom set students were delighted that they were not being offered a ‘dumbed down’ course. Material that students in the sets above them were doing had been made accessible to them.
Material that motivates and enables Foundation Tier students: Developed and trialled in the classroom, with a variety of lower sets. This is material that motivated even the least able!
